Auditions for the third after-school play, “darklight”, are being held Monday, Oct. 26 from 4:00 to 5:30 P.M. All students regardless of SLC or prior theatre experience are welcome to audition.

“darklight” is an examination of anxiety and depression in teens. The play features characters like Moe and Van, teenagers who are dealing with anxiety and depression, two mental health issues which are personified by other characters in the cast.

Director John Tourtellotte said, “This is a relevant and necessary issue to explore.”

Once casted, rehearsals for the play will take place over Zoom, Nov. 2 to Dec. 4, on Tuesdays through Fridays, from 4:00 to 5:30 P.M. Not all actors will be needed at every rehearsal. In order to accommodate for students’ busy schedules, a more detailed rehearsal calendar will be shared with the actors who’ve been cast, listing the specific days and times they’ll be needed in advance so that they may plan accordingly.

Instead of being performed live, scenes will be pre-recorded then edited together. The full performance will then be broadcasted via streaming platforms later in the semester.

Interested students have until midnight on Sunday, Oct. 25 to submit an audition form.
