Fly-in programs let seniors visit colleges across the country for free

Affordable Fly-In Programs Available to Upcoming Seniors 

Upcoming seniors can explore the wide range of colleges available through fly-in programs hosted by various colleges and universities. These programs allow prospective students to learn more about the university’s programs, academic life, and campus life.

Brandeis University

Located in Waltham, Massachusetts, Brandeis’ Students Exploring and Embracing Diversity (SEED) program provides full travel scholarships to cover the cost of transportation to and from the university, and covers all meal costs. This program is only available to upcoming high school seniors. The current deadline to apply is Sept. 8.


Carleton Colleg

This liberal arts college in Northfield, Minnesota has a three-day program open to any high school student, regardless of grade level. Participants have the opportunity to explore the college’s campus and engage in Carleton activities and courses. Carleton College will cover program costs, transportation and housing for participants. The deadline is July 26.

Emory University

The prestigious Emory University Leadership, Enrichment, Advocacy, and Diversity (LEADs) program offers students the opportunity to explore leadership beyond the classroom. Like the majority of these programs, they are solely focused on engaging upcoming seniors. The deadline for this program is Aug. 11.

MIT

The Weekend Immersion in Science and Engineering (WISE), hosted by MIT, begins on Sunday, Oct. 15, and concludes in the afternoon on Tuesday, Oct. 17. Participants stay on campus with current MIT undergraduate students and learn firsthand about academics and campus life. This three day program engages students in science and engineering. and solely available to upcoming high school seniors. The cost of transportation from and to MIT is covered by this program.

Tufts University

Voices of Tufts engages high school seniors to the community within the walls of Tufts University. Tufts offers a virtual and in-person program that occurs in early October. Tufts Admissions arranges for participants’ transportation. The deadline for applications is July 22.
