Girls Volleyball Stumble Their Beginning

The Sheiks girl’s volleyball team was defeated by their rival Helen Bernstein in a tight 3-2 game.

The game was intense as both teams fought to take the lead, throughout the game. The game ended with Bernstein winning 15-9 in the last set. Making the overall record for the lady sheiks in their Central League campaign with a 0-1 record and an overall record of 1-2.

“We aren’t completely comfortable with each other yet,” said senior captain Angela Mikaelian, “But we are pretty close to being great.”

The girl’s volleyball team still played a good game, according to Angela, the only errors that were made were “the consistency of the serves.”

Before the matchup, the girls’ volleyball team had suffered a 3-0 loss to Northridge Academy and won a competitive game against Los Angeles High School 3-2.

Despite the rough start, the girls’ volleyball team plans to pick up the pace against Central League opponents Gonzalo & Felicitas Mendez High School, who currently have an overall 7-3 record and last year’s Central League champions.

Advice that Angela has for her team is to “just try to relax if you’re anxious” and to “shake it off” before the game starts.
