Tips on last minute cramming for AP Exams

As April comes to an end, the dreaded month of May is becoming a reality.

The first two weeks of May is filled with the nightmare of Advanced Placement exams, which leaves students stressed about how to cram an entire course in the span of two or so weeks.

Ideally, when taking an AP class, you are supposed to study unit by unit throughout the whole week, to avoid the dilemma of cramming.

However, every student is guilty of procrastination, and who am I to judge your study habits?

Here are some tips, and resources for your last-minute cramming:

  1. Watch AP Daily videos. The college board released videos for all the units of your AP course. These videos are a good refresher for all the information you’ve learned throughout the year.
  1. Create an efficient study plan. Look at the AP Exam Schedule, and divide up the work. Set realistic goals, do not expect to finish three units a day (I strive to do so). Focus on concepts, rather than specific details.
  1. Use Fivable’s study guides. Fivable is a lifesaver when it comes to breaking down lessons into study guides. Information is concise, clear to the point, and easy to understand. Best of all, it’s free! Use your remaining time by going through their practice questions, flashcards, and slides
  1. If you are taking multiple AP classes, set your priorities straight. If you plan to become a doctor I would prioritize AP Biology over AP Computer Science. Even though theoretically all your AP’s are important, it is important to know which matters more to you

Taking an AP exam is a stressful event, however, remember that this will all be over in less than a month! The more you prepare yourself the more confident you will hopefully be!
