Show choir auditions have finally arrived. Show choir is a musical ensemble that combines choral singing with choreographed dance. If you still don’t know what show choir is it was popularized in the TV show Glee.
Lisa Hertzner the choir, show choir, and leadership teacher has over 25 years of teaching experience and has been singing professionally for over 20 years now. Knowing a lot about the business industry and stage presence, vocal production, stage movement, and having been able to direct shows she’s an amazing teacher for show choir.
“If students love to sing, dance, perform and be exposed to wonderful performance opportunities they should join show choir” said Hertzner, it could benefit them in many ways. Students should be up for the challenge since it is a fast paced class learning a lot of music and staging shows, yet still being fun with a great environment that students can look forward to.
“It’s a fun class and you won’t know until you try,” said Hertzner encouraging students to join. “We work closely together, everyone is very helpful to one another, we succeed together, it’s a family.”
The audition is to submit a 2 minute video saying your name, grade that you’re in now and SLC. Afterwards sing a section of a song of your choice to let your voice really shine and to show off your vocal range. Finally do a short dance such as the macarena, cha cha slide, or electric slide or even perform your own dance.
