19 year old rapper and producer Redveil released his most recent EP  “Playing /W Fire” on April.19. There’s been much buzz around this young artist since his last album “Learn 2 Swim,” which dropped last year. Displaying versatility in both his rapping and production fans have high hopes for this young talent, and this EP proves fulfills those hopes.

Redveil released two singles prior to the EP. These singles were “Giftbag,” and “Black Enuff” the latter featuring one of the most recognizable faces of abstract hip hop, JPEGMAFIA. This isn’t Redveil’s first collaboration with JPEGMAFIA, their first was earlier this year when he featured on JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown’s collab tape on the track “Kingdom Hearts Keys.”

With this EP some say that Redveil changed his style a bit too much. With some of his earlier work, soul samples and lo-fi vocals with a much more low-key flow were a bit of a trademark. With this EP Redveil seems to bring much more energy to tracks and has some different beats, especially on the aforementioned “Black Enuff ” which samples a Nigerian dance song. This beat was a highlight of the EP and goes to show how a bit of evolution in Redveil’s art seems to be for the better.

While being short, only coming in at a little over 15 minutes Redveil is able to satisfy many fans appetite for new music.
