Known as one of the best adaptations of a video game, The Last of Us has become one of HBO’s most talked about shows. Premiering on Jan. 15, it had 4.7 million views on its first day. Being only four days away from the season finale, fans are anxiously waiting.

The series follows Pedro Pascal as Joel, who is tasked with escorting Bella Ramsey as Ellie, across the United States despite the mutant Cordyceps fungus that led to a post-apocalyptic world. The show is set in 2023, but the world is vastly different from ours. Unlike the usual virus that causes a zombie apocalypse, The Last of Us offers a unique take on the traditional zombie. The infected are instead created by a mutated version of the Cordyceps fungus.

Besides the main cast, we see Nico Parker as Sarah, Joel’s 14 year old daughter; Merle Dandridge as Marlene, the head of the resistance movement called the Fireflies; Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Joel’s younger brother; Anna Torv as Tess, Joel’s smuggler partner; and many more.

So far there’s been 8 episodes and the season finale will air on March 12. But fans can cheer up knowing that the show got renewed for a second season.
