Today and tomorrow the class of 2024 will take the SBAC state standardized testing, the beginning of weeks of testing in English, science and math, followed by Advanced Placement exams.

This week will be the English multiple-choice portion of the test. Juniors will continue the English essay portion after spring break.

Science portion of the SBAC will take place at the end of April and math portions of the test will occur after the AP exams in May.

“I’m not prepared. It’s scary, I need to study a lot for English, math and science. Since I don’t have a science class, it will be hard for me,” said Alix Hernandez, NMA junior.

The following week after spring break students will take the SAT on Wednesday, April 12. Students will be tested in assigned rooms and will only be dismissed once the bell rings, even if they finish the test early. Students will not be permitted to leave the testing zone. Students will be testing from 8:30 am-1:30 p.m. Taking the SAT determines if students are college ready.

“I feel very stressed, I know it doesn’t affect your grade, but it affects you. It is a lot of pressure and it’s all at once. There are no breaks in between. I think it’s unimportant and unnecessary stress,” said Mia Karina Contreras Farfan, SAS junior.
