The Sheiks basketball team has been training through the entire offseason, even before the school year, to have a great run in their league and the playoffs.

“The work that our coach has put us through has been much,” said Corey Bolaoen a SAS sophomore. “It will definitely be worth it.”

Last year, the sheik’s basketball team won the central league with an 11-1 record and finished the season with an overall record of 19-8 making it to the CIF final four.

“We want to give ourselves an opportunity to repeat as league champs,” said coach Ryan Simkhai. “We play with a lot of heart and passion.”

Coach Ryan has high expectations for this year’s team, and the team also has high expectations for themselves.

“I think we can be better than last year’s team,” said captain Anthony Cruz SAS Senior. “We have better team chemistry.”

From the coach to the players, everyone on the team is thrilled to see what they can produce this year.

The team faces off against Los Angeles High School in a non-league fixture at home on Nov 10. Make sure to stop by and support the boy’s basketball team.
