Girls varsity volleyball beat rivals Bernstein 3 – 2 at home on Wednesday, bringing their overall record to 2 – 2. They face the Mendez Jaguars today at 4 p.m. on Sheik territory.
Lady Sheiks won the game when a Bernstein player served the ball into the net, giving Hollywood the point.
The team is led by captains Paulett Sanchez and Jizzelle Hernandez, both seniors. The coach is Casey Klein, TCA English teacher.
Mendez may be a fierce opponent as their record is 5 – 0.
“We work hard and we’ll play even harder, we expect a lot from ourselves and we plan to exceed them. Let’s hope we see that in this game against Mendez,” said Ashley Jung, a SAS senior.
Junior varsity lost to Bernstein 2 – 1. Players experienced hardship without a working air conditioner.
“I didn’t expect our team to take a loss, but we played a great game and we will keep playing our best moving forward to bring home more wins,” said Natalie Mikaelian, captain of the JV team.
