There are multiple discussions going on about the upcoming activities such as GradNite, graduation, Aloha Luncheon, and prom.
Last Friday, Mar. 25, seniors walked to Dave & Buster’s where they were given unlimited breakfast and around $15 of preloaded game cards. They met at the Hawthorn gate and arrived at 8:30 a.m. then came back to school at 11:30 a.m. The embed card readers that were blue were the only ones with unlimited play while the other games used chips. Seniors were allowed to reload their cards at the front if they wished to gain more tickets in order to retrieve bigger prizes.
“It was a once in a lifetime moment where we cherish our final moments in high school and all I can say is it was one of the best,” said SAS senior Nataly Sanchez.
The next senior event is scheduled to be prom on Friday, May 27 in the California Science Center under the space shuttle.
“The Senior Cabinet and I went to the Prom venue this morning [Mar. 16] and we talked to the event planner, and we organized the decorations,” said senior cabinet President Jimena Lopez.
While there have been disputes about the event’s theme, it has been concluded that it will remain “Midnight Garden.” In order to attend, everyone must go to at least 50 percent of their classes the day of. On Thursday, June 2, seniors will be awarded their honors, stoles, and cords for Achieve the Honorable.
After graduation, on June 7 there is a possibility of having a field trip to either UCLA, CSUN, CSULA, or West LA College from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Following the next day, June 8 which is a minimum day, Aloha Luncheon will be held in the cafeteria from 10 a.m.-1:15 p.m. There is also a minimum day on Thursday, June 9, for a potential Unconventional Career Fair.
GradNite will be on Wednesday, June 8th in both Disneyland and California Adventure Park but there is no designated time yet. Unfortunately, there are only 255 tickets available at the price of $179 per person. It must be paid in cash only to a Senior Cabinet member, not the student store — specifically Jimena Lopez or Aylin Arias, the treasurer. The cash must be sealed in an envelope with your full name, SLC, and advisory teacher. In addition, chaperones and seniors will need to pay an extra $30 for a definite bus seat.
Since it is not school-affiliated, any questions can be directed to the Senior Cabinet.
Seniors still have time to buy GradNite tickets until the April 1st deadline and May 6 for a bus seat.
