The Rotary Club of Historic Filipinotown and Reiyukai America have returned and brought back the Letter to My Parents Contest ™ in Los Angeles. They are currently accepting submissions and giving kids a chance to win a Chromebook and other items.
Interested students can share about their family as they were growing up in Los Angeles.
Ten awardees will be selected and receive a $100 gift certificate. Among the 10, three winners will be picked after presenting “the most share-worthy” letter and will receive a brand new Chromebook.
To enter the contest, you must be a resident of Los Angeles County from the ages 15 to 20 years old. You are free to express your experiences and feelings towards your parents or legal guardians. You will be encouraged to submit work in illustrating examples. These examples will show personal family life; reflecting family relationships and interactions while using one or more of the guiding questions.
- What feelings did I have about my family during the pandemic?
- What do my parent(s) / family mean to me?
- What would I like to do with my parent(s) / family?
- How have my parents’ experiences influenced, affected or shaped the person I am today?
- What steps will I commit myself to in order to make our family relationships better?
Entries should be submitted to info@lettertomyparents.com by Monday, Feb. 21. Letters can be submitted in any language used in the County of Los Angeles, but an English translation will be required.
