The Key Club’s mission is to spread positivity in our school and community. They initiated a Tutu event which was to design tutus and wear them to the fall rally. Fall rally is an event that takes place in Six Flags Magic Mountain with other club regions, they compete and decide who has the best spirit. To prepare for this upcoming event they were dedicated to initiating their spirit to the club by taking two hours in designing and creating these tutus for their members.
Candy Gonzalez, Key Club historian, was up to the task and she bought fabrics from a store in downtown Los Angeles. The money used to buy these tutus was fundraised by Key Club from the previous years so they earned their own money. They made tutus of all designs and colors like violet, blue, and pink whichever they preferred. The event itself was a good way to interact with each other and have some spirit together.
“ Being our first event it wasn’t a huge turnout, it was fun to participate in it,” said Giovanni Maya Key Club President. It was a fun experience, I think it’s out of your comfort zone if you don’t like arts and crafts, but it’s still good to interact with one another.”
During Thanksgiving break, Hollywood Key Club is collaborating with Big Sunday. Big Sunday’s Mission is to connect people through helping. They offer an enormous variety of opportunities and projects that unite people to improve lives, build community, and give everyone a sense of belonging.
Key Club invited their members to create notes for people who also need words of encouragement and these notes are placed inside bags to bring joy and affirmations. The club is dedicated to giving its full potential especially when it comes to helping out its very own community. The mission of these notes is to bring hope through words to families and individuals who are going through hardships in these unprecedented times. Key Club meets with Dr. Jin Suh Jirn in room 423 every other Thursday during lunch.
