Achieve the Honorable gives $30,000 in scholarships

More than $30,000 in scholarships were awarded Monday night at the Achieve the Honorable ceremony, with NMA senior Jovana Tankou receiving $10,000 for first place in the Muriel Pollia writing contest.

The Muriel Pollia Foundation Scholarship second place winner for the amount of $5,000 was awarded to Melisa Lovos Palacios who is attending the University of California, Merced.

The Muriel Pollia Foundation Scholarship third place winner for the amount of $2,500 was awarded to Nehanda Akili who is attending New York University.

The Alice and Dick Rippey Memorial Scholarship for $3,000 was awarded to:

Sasha Corcuera who is attending the University of Southern California.

Francine Olpoc who is attending the University of California, Davis.

Sona Akopyan who is attending California State University, Long Beach.

Michaela Trebly who is attending the University of California, Los Angeles.

The Frederick Robert Baker Memorial Scholarship for $1000 was awarded to Rosalind Martinez who is attending UC Berkeley.

The Alumni Association Scholarship for $1,000 was Angelica Whipple who is attending Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Mayte Guzman who is attending the University of San Diego.

The Keith Kuhn Memorial Scholarship for $500 was awarded to Sidney Gonzales who is attending Los Angeles City College.

The Hollywood High School Math Department Scholarship for $500 was awarded to Isaac Garcia who is attending UC Berkeley.

The Perry Goering Scholarship for $500 was awarded to Jade Ventling who is attending San Francisco State.

The Real Don Steele Scholarship for $500 was awarded to two special students, Jabez Byrd who is attending the 1500 Sound Academy and Nehanda Akili who is attending New York University. 

The Mardi Mardirossian Memorial Scholarship for $500 was awarded to Carlos Hernandez who is attending Santa Monica Community College.

The J.F. Morales Scholarship for $500 was awarded to Erick Calderon who is attending the University of California, San Diego.

The Harry Major Scholarship for $500 was awarded to Maryuri Ramirez who is attending the University of California, Riverside.

The New Media Program Scholarship for $500 was awarded to Aiiana Corrales who is attending the University of California, Irvine. 

La Verne Fisher Memorial Scholarship for $500 was awarded to Negin Shekarchian who is attending Los Angeles Community College.
