High school can be a difficult place for LGBTQ youth, and the pandemic and quarantining has not made things easier.

Love and LiteraTea is an organization outside of school that is being offered to  LGBTQ+ high school students interested in joining the community and reading books.

Love and LiteraTea offers a safe and affirming space for LGBTQ+ youth to connect through literature and pop culture. Their mission is to empower, uplift, and provide community for LGBTQ+ youth by reading and discussing the work of LGBTQ+ writers and artists. Books will be provided to readers pending funding. Your financial support goes toward purchasing books for the group.

The application is now open and will be accepted until Feb. 14.The application process is available here.  The group will meet bi-weekly on Zoom with exact dates given to the cohort.

Love & LiteraTea is all about LGBTQ+ stories: reading them, cherishing them, discussing them, amplifying them, and loving them. It is a great opportunity for LGBTQ+ people who love reading and discussing books.

Who is Love and LiterTEA? Shea Martin is a queer, black teacher, researcher, and organizer who dreams and works towards liberation with teachers and students across the country. Dr. Henry “Cody” Miller is an assistant professor of English education at SUNY Brockport.
