UNESCO (ICCAR) and Idries Shah Foundation – both organizations that focus on helping the community- launched a “World Tales” Short Story Competition for students between the ages of 12 and 18, and open to all, regardless of your nationality or city of residence.
In order to participate entries must include short stories of 250 to 500 words, must be typed in English or French in the required font number and text, must be original unpublished works of fiction, must be potential for future societies, inclusive, peaceful, resilient, sustainable, and tolerant, and relating to the topics in the range of climate change, human rights violations, conflicts, racism and discrimination, etc.
The prizes will include Gold (who will be awarded an iPad), Silver and Bronze Laureates that will be elected from each of the seven national and regional Coalitions forming ICCAR. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Award ceremony in December, announcing the winners, will take place online. All laureates will receive copies of the book and a set of ISF children’s books for their public libraries.
All short stories must be turned in by October 15, 2020 to the email address below, formatted as specified on the website.
