Logging back into school

As students prepare to go back into school on Aug. 18, they are confronting an entirely new and difficult experience.

With Covid-19 still being a very present threat to the health of residents of the Los Angeles area, UTLA has agreed with LAUSD to begin the year virtually.  Remote learning was first introduced in March with no warning and forced everyone to adjust to a socially distanced way of living. It’s the first time students begin the year without physically being in school. Although the duration of online learning has not been confirmed, it is expected to last until Dec. 30.

Despite classes being held online, students will need their books to participate and complete their classes. Book pickups will require a student I.D., your list of classes, and everyone in attendance to wear their mask.

Hollywood students can find their schedules on their Schoology, accessible through the application or the website: lms.lausd.net. If students have any questions or  concerns about their schedules, they can find their SLC’s counselor on the Hollywood High Staff Directory.

Along with these preparations for the incoming school year, students should prepare mentally. With classes beginning at 9 a.m., you should start arranging a sleep schedule to get a good night’s rest to be ready for classes in the morning.
