On March 13. when remote learning was introduced, I was happy about the fact that we were not going to be in school for a couple of weeks. Now that I look back, I do not know what I was celebrating. I miss school and being able to go out and socialize.
My past experience with remote learning was great, but I would often get bored of doing my work alone. I liked how teachers gave us a lot of support, and guided us through the rest of the spring semester. Now that we have to face remote learning again, I feel a little more prepared, and I know what to expect.
The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a lot away from me. One of the things that got taken away from me was my senior year. This 2020-2021 school year was supposed to be one of the best high school years for me, since I am a senior. I am going to miss out on a lot of things like homecoming, sports, and making new friends.
I could live without the fun, but I struggle without the emotional support that my friends and teachers provide for me. This year is probably going to be one of the most stressful years I have ever faced. With new challenging classes and college applications coming up, I do not know where I am going to get the help I need.
I am upset that we are not going to be in school this fall, but I am okay with it. I am glad that LAUSD and UTLA came to an agreement that protects their community.
I am looking forward to this school year and all the challenges that we are going to face. I hope that we can return to school soon. Stay safe and have a nice and safe school year.
