Los Angeles residents can now apply for Angeleno Card

On Tuesday, LA city mayor, Eric Garcetti, announced that Los Angeles residents would be able to apply for an Angeleno Card. The Angeleno Card is a debit card that will provide anything from $700-$1500. This program is intended for low-income families affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. 

 “I’m glad that our mayor is doing his best in helping all of us during these terrible times. It makes me feel better because he is showing how much he cares about us” said Ashley Hernandez, SAS, Freshman 

 To be eligible a resident must meet all the requirements listed on the Angeleno card website, https://hcidla.lacity.org/

  Some of the requirements are:

  • Applicants must live in the city of Los Angeles 
  • Household income below the federal poverty level prior to the COVID-19 crisis 
  • Reduction in income by 50%

 The cards will be available to anyone eligible regardless of their citizenship. 

To apply visit https://hcidla.lacity.org/ and fill out all the information needed or call 213-252-3040. The deadline for this application is April 16, 4:30 pm. 

People who apply and don’t receive a card will be kept on a waiting list.
