LAUSD decided to cancel all sports practices and games until further notice. The sports that were affected are the following: baseball, softball, track, and volleyball. Each sport was doing well at the time, baseball being 1-1-1, softball being 2 – 0 win in league, boys volleyball 3-0, and track winning every event.
An upcoming hashtag found on Instagram called #redshirtcoronayear is supporting student athletes who are being affected by the virus. It is to defend individuals who are being “[robbed] of eligibility, finishing their careers, or simply playing their sport”.
