LACMA (Los Angeles Museum of Art) has recently added a new exhibition to their many art pieces. Their latest exhibit focuses on the director Guillermo Del Toro and his many films. The art pieces display del Toro’s extraordinary imagination revealing his inventive process through his collection of paintings, drawings, artifacts, and concept film art. The exhibition differs from traditional chronology or filmography by organizing the pieces thematically, starting with visions of death and the afterlife; continuing through explorations of magic, horror, and monsters; concluding with representations of innocence and redemption.

Guillermo del Toro is famous for multiple films and praised amongst cinematographers who have even gone as far as calling him the most inventive filmmaker of his generation. Some of his most successful films include: The Devil’s Backbone, Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth, Pacific Rim, and Crimson Peak which are all displayed at the exhibit. Many of the pieces displayed at the exhibit are props that Del Toro has kept at his home after his films have wrapped up. However, the exhibit is only available to LACMA members. High School students under the age of 18 are able to sign up for a free membership at LACMA and gain access to all their permanent and special exhibitions.
