With the semester coming to an end and final grades rapidly approaching, the stress level for most of the school is at an all-time high. Many students are searching for ways to make-or-break their grade, and are trying to do so by getting a good score on their final exams. Luckily, this article will provide you with 5 beneficial tips for doing the best you can on your finals (without cheating).

Tip #5: Managing your Time

Time management is a very useful skill to have, not only during finals, but also in life. Instead of trying to study every note and flashcard at the last minute, try to plan ahead and organize study sessions in advance to decrease your stress and maximize what you’re learning.

Tip #4: Study Efficiently

Instead of sitting down for an hour doodling on your notes, try your best to spend every minute of your study sessions as effectively as possible. Whether it be reviewing flashcards or using Khan Academy, make sure you use all the time you have wisely.

Tip #3: Eat the Best You Can

It’s not such a good idea to go around without any food in your system, so why would you want that while your reading and studying? Learning requires a lot of concentration, so why would you want to attempt a final exam on an empty stomach?  Nutrition is essential to our everyday lives, so make sure you fuel up on as much food as you can.

Tip #2: Get Enough Sleep

Its no secret that a good night’s sleep is a great remedy for stress and good way to clear the mind for a big day. So how about you use that to your advantage? Make sure to get at least 7-9 hours of sleep in advance of your finals to reduce stress levels, and increase memorization skills.

Tip #1: Minimize Distractions

Whether it be during your study session, your sleep routine, or even in the middle of an exam, you have one goal, and that is to do the best you can on the finals. The most simplest way to go about this goal, is to minimize distractions as best you can. Try not to let your mind drift away from the task at hand. Studies show that while teens prefer to listen to music, text friends, or even watch television while studying, they are less likely to remember the information they have studied for. Keep this in mind when your favorite song comes on while studying.
