Get spooky for Friday the 13th

Don’t forget to knock on wood! Today is the first October Friday the 13th in 11 years and it’s the perfect time to get spooky this Halloween season. To get into the mood, here are five classic horror movies you should consider watching.

1. Friday the 13th (2009)

A young man by the name of Clay searches the woods around Crystal Lake for signs of his missing sister while a group of college students party in a hidden cabin. Meanwhile, a masked killer known as Jason Voorhees, stalks the students to avenge his dead mother.

2. Jeepers Creepers (2001)

Siblings Darry and Trish drive through an isolated countryside to get home from college. While driving they encounter a man in a large coat with a hat covering his face near an old church. They follow him down into the basement of the church to find something extremely disturbing. They later discover the flesh-eating creature.

3. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)

A group of five close friends drive through Texas when they encounter a hitchhiker. They pick him up and the hitchhiker later stabs himself and one of the friends. They make the hitchhiker get off the car and the friends head to the nearest gas station. When stopped at the gas station they end up getting hunted by Leatherface, a chainsaw wielding killer, and his cannibalistic family.

4. Halloween (1978)

Fifteen years after being institutionalized for murdering his older sister, Michael Myers escapes from the asylum the night before Halloween and returns to the small town of Haddonfield where he begins to kill again.

5. Freddy vs. Jason (2003)

Freddy vs. Jason is a classic horror movie that is great to watch for a good scare. “Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees return to terrorize the teenage population. Except this time, they’re out to get each other, too.” -IMDb
