Usually Cinco de Mayo is spent enjoying fruity and tropical margaritas dancing the night away, but for most of us at Hollywood we can’t indulge ourselves in a margarita. Luckily there are other ways that we can celebrate this festive day.

Olvera Street

Saturday May 3rd, in Downtown LA, there will be a fun and traditional celebration held in what looks like a small Mexico that is brought to live in Downtown. There will be mariachi band, pinata, folklorico dancers. There will be musical appearances from Rogelio Martinez,Banda Costena, etc. There will be decedent snacks and food trucks that will be available for the people to enjoy.

25th Annual Fiesta Broadway Cinco de Mayo Street Fair

Again Downtown is holding their annual street fair to celebrate with all who come and enjoy the festivities that come along with the holiday. It is known as one of the largest block parties, it is expected to host over half a million people this year.

Single de Mayo

If you’re flying solo this year and you’re drinking your margarita with only one straw, it’s okay! There is this charity event that has been going on since 1999. It’s a daytime dance club, part carnival and part singles mixer. And, with a bounce house, skeeball, twister, giant jenga, carnival games, cotton candy, DJ’s and more, how could you resist?

There are many different ways that you can choose to spend this Cinco de Mayo, hell you can even spend it at home eating some carne asada and drinking some horchata. Any way you spend make sure you make it a damn fiesta, and if you’re too lazy to host something yourself, go to one of these or find one of your own. Just make sure you have fun with it and make it a memory to last.
